Karni Fort, Bambora
Udaipur |
|
Location |
|
Located in the southern part of Rajputana, Bambora
is at the crossrods of many interesting destinations
in Rajasthan. It is also approachable from Gujarat
and Madhya Pradesh. There are many places worth
visiting, including Jaisamand, the largest manmade
lake in the region, built a few centuries ago. You
can also visit the historical city of Udaipur, the
world famous Chittorgarh Fort and the 10th century
Jagat Temples known as the Khajuraho Temple of
Rajasthan.
The historic fort has been sensitively restored to
retain its ambience and yet offer modern
conveniences. Of great interest is the whole process
of conservation and restoration, showcased in a
museum which the owners, Thakur and Thakurani Sunder
Singh of Sodawas and their aristocratic family,
undertook, to convert the majestic Fort into an
immaculate heritage resort. Architectural elements
have been aesthetically replicated and the original
fortifications and turrets left virtually untouched.
The interiors invoke a felling of medieval opulence
with interesting mirror work and gilded furniture.
